چکیده
Philosophical considerations regarding experiential spatial content have focused on exteroceptive sensations presenting external entities, and not interoceptive experiences that present states of our own body. A notable example is studies touch, in which it argued tactile rich such are experienced as located a field. This article investigates whether similarly can be attributed to acute, cutaneous pain. Spatial summation of vibrotactile sensations at the foot.
Thresholds for the perception of vibration on the hand reduce with increasing area of excitation when the thresholds are mediated by the Pacinian channel (a phenomenon known as spatial summation) but thresholds are generally independent of the area of excitation when they are mediated by non-Pacinian channels. The effect of the area of excitation on vibrotactile thresholds at the sole of the fo...
متن کاملMore than DeQi: Spatial Patterns of Acupuncture-Induced Bodily Sensations
Acupuncture uses needles to stimulate certain parts of the body, inducing a specific sensation, termed DeQi, which regard as essential for acupuncture's therapeutic effect. I contend that neither the arguments motivating this reading nor the textual evidence offered in its support is sufficient to justif...
